Liposuction: Liposuction is a procedure that improves the body shape by removing fat deposits from selected areas by means of a thin tube called cannula. The most frequent locations for liposuction include abdomen, hips, thighs, upper arms and neck. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis, and under local anesthesia with sedation or epidural anesthesia. Through small skin incisions, the targeted fat area is infused with a special solution before liposuction to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. Then a cannula generating low-intensity ultrasound energy is used to liquify the fat before it is suctioned. Temporary numbness, bruising, swelling, and some fluid drainage from incision sites can be expected after surgery for a few days. Because we use self- absorbable surgical sutures, there is not need for stitch removal. In most cases, patients are back to work in one to two weeks.
